2017 GOH V-Men Charity Run 2017/12/25
V-Men Run is hosted in response to 16 Days of Activism by UN Women.

The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) V-Men Charity Run: Let Love Sines and Get Violence Out of The Way begun on 25th November at Zhongzheng Riverside Park, New Taipei City. The date was also International Day for the Eradication of Violence Against Women. Therefore, the Charity Run combined 16 Days of Activism by UN Women and One Billion Rising to symbolize Taiwan going from local to global and is in sync with global anti-violence movement. In addition, people could implement gender justice through“Glocalization". Nearly 2 thousand runners including volunteers and staffs, fearless of windy and rainy weather, participated to show their enthusiastic commitment of anti-violence.

For the past two years, GOH has been involved in the V-Men Run Campaign to mobilize men and women of all ages to demonstrate its support for anti-gender violence. Part of the running origins from White Ribbon Campaign, which was initiated in Canada. Thus Mr. Michael McCulloch, Director of General Relations, the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei was in full participation. Other special guests participated in the V-Men Run including Wenzhong Lee, Commissioner of Taipei Bar Association, Dr. Shizhe Tseng, CEO of Taipei Dental Association, Dr. Shifu Yi, AED RUNNER Captain, and Zhaohong Lin, Deputy Director-General of MOFA's Department of NGO International Affairs.

In spite of the cold and wet weather, the GOH CEO Hui-jung Chi fired a pistol with Representative's wife of Liaison Office of South Africa: KEKANA Mary Nomvula, and representatives of other agencies started their run to demonstrate H.O.P.E., which stands for: Health, Order, Photography, and Energy. H.O.P.E. coincidentally shares the name of Garden of Hope Foundation.

A total of 106 runners were awarded trophies after they returned to the finish line. After the ceremony, the event was at its high note of VIPs taking the oath. The Olympic team member Chia-che Chang led all runners to read the V-Men Principles against violence. VIP held orange balloons as a symbol of response to 16 Days of Activism, and that the power of orange to change the world. Commissioner of Social Welfare Department, New Taipei City Government Ching-Li Chang gave a speech on behalf of Mayor of New Taipei Li-lun Chu to thank GOH's 30 years services to continually work hard for non-violence campaign. In the future, everyone must work together to eliminate the violence.

Another feature of running this year was internationalization. Director General of Warsaw Trade office in Taiwan, Dr. Maciej Artur Gaca, was the 8th fastest in man's 10K, and the 1st was Gabriel Merton from San Diego of United States.

Representative's wife of Liaison Office of South Africa KEKANA, Mary Nomvula ran 5K. She has been in Taiwan for 3 months and was happy to participate in an anti-gender violence campaign by her beloved running.

The Representative of Italian Economic, Trade and Cultural Promotion Office in Taipei Mr. Donato Scioscioli changed to pregnant suit and high heels after he finished 21km, in order to experience women's life. He hoped to participate in more activities held by GOH.
