Human trafficking stays in the news
¡@
The local media reported arrests in separate
cases related to trafficking in Taiwan in March. The two cases involved
women from Indonesia and women from Vietnam. Some of the Indonesian
women said they were tricked
into coming to the island on the promise of marriage, but when they
arrived were put to work in abusive conditions. Several of the
Vietnamese women said
they were forced to work as prostitutes. Local authorities have
arrested several suspects said to be involved in the two rings, which
they say organized fake marriage documents to allow the women to enter
Taiwan.

New GOH book will help children in court
The GOH is set to release a new children's
activity book, which is designed to help children, who have to testify
in court. The book contains pictures and stickers, as well as
information on a typical courtroom and an explanation of the different jobs of
court personnel.

The book is aimed at children, who will
testify in cases of domestic violence. The goal is to help to reassure children if they
have to take part in legal proceedings. It will be made available
through GOH service centers around the island. |
