Banda, and the Ambassador of Malawi, His Excellency Thengo Maloya, to visit our
head office and learn about our work in Taiwan.

The Honorable Joyce Banda has a long
association with women and children's welfare in her home country.
Minister Banda
has been involved in numerous civic organizations as well as having
worked on Malawi's Domestic Violence Bill, the National Gender Programme, and the "fight against human trafficking". She has been
active in the National Association of Business Women, the Hunger
Project in Malawi, and a founding member of the African Federation of
Women Entrepreneurs and other prominent women's business groups.
Recently, she started a foundation to help children orphaned by AIDS.
The GOH valued the opportunity to discuss programs for children and
young people.

Earlier in November, we welcomed Panama's Ms. Sabrina Guiselle
to our head office. Ms. Guiselle flew to Taiwan for a week, and
visited local organizations to inform her own projects back in Panama,
where she works on programs to tackle poverty ¡X especially
underprivileged children. Sabrina was hosted in Taiwan by the
Democratic Pacific Union as part of their 2006 Visiting Fellowship
program. Sabrina was accompanied by Ms. Lily Wang from Ming Chuan
University's International Relations Center. We thank Sabrina and Lily
for taking the time to visit.
