A call for help with baby items
The GOH has a variety of support
services for single mothers and mothers-to-be. These include counseling, social
work services and temporary shelters. The shelters are a key service
for young women, who do not have other
accommodation. They provide a safe, supportive environment for unwed
mothers to plan for their own future and that of their child.

Currently, we need items to help
out at the shelters, or for new mothers leaving the shelters. If you
have any baby items to spare, we would love to hear from you! We can
accept used items in good, clean condition. Please see our "wish list" below, or contact
"robyn (at) goh.org.tw" if you have any other things, which you think
might be useful:

In 2005,
the GOH provided services to more than 600 young unwed pregnant
women

Services included
counseling, social work support, and shelter accommodation.

Follow-up services
included social work support, as well as help with adoption for those
who choose it.

Of all services
offered, the single most requested service was for shelter
accommodation.

Of those clients
whose age was known, more than half were under 19 years old

In a survey of 70
clients, nearly 50% chose to offer their child for adoption; 26% chose
to raise the child alone
