US criticizes
Taiwan for slow action on human trafficking
A recent report by the US State Department
criticized Taiwan for its "failure" to act on human trafficking, and
called for authorities to develop clear policies to address the
problem. The annual report placed Taiwan on the "Tier 2 Watch List" -
a demotion from last year's Tier 2 ranking.

More information and services needed
Along with more services for victims of
trafficking, more information is needed in the fight against
trafficking of all kinds in Taiwan. The Garden of Hope Foundation
wants to build on its work from November last year, when we organized a major
international conference on human trafficking to Taiwan. We look
forward to working together with authorities, NGOs and other experts
around the region to improve the situation locally.
