A helping hand from the Canadian Dragon Boat Team

Thanks are due to the Canadian Society in Taiwan, for a kind donation from the Society's Dragon Boat team. Seen in this photo is the Garden of Hope's Ms. Lisa Pai presenting a Certificate of Thanks to president of the Canadian Society in Taiwan, Mr. Jacques van Wersch.

The Society enjoyed a very "international" team this year, but each member shared a commitment to the team, and to helping a local charity group. The team members generously decided to donate their prize money from the races to the Garden of Hope's Taidong Women's Workshop.

The donation will be used to help disadvantaged indigenous women at the workshop - which is a job training and social work project based in Taiwan's eastern city of Taidong.

Thank you again, for your thoughtful gift!

The GOH would also like to thank a private donation-in-kind from a couple leaving Taiwan. All of the goods were gratefully received by staff at our women's and girls' shelters.

Taidong Workshop exhibition at Taipei's Community Services Center

There's a very special exhibition of works at Taipei's Community Services Center in Tienmu. The Center is showing a collection of handmade jewelry from the GOH's Taidong Women's Workshop, which will be on sale throughout August.

The Center works as important network and support center for expatriates in Taipei, and offers professional counseling, classes, coffee mornings and much more. It also exhibits works by local artists, and kindly offered the chance to the GOH.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to purchase your own beautiful and unique bead creation, and support the workshop for disadvantage indigenous women at the same time.

The Center is open from Monday-Friday from 9am - 5pm at #25, Lane 290, Chung Shan N Road, Sec 6, Taipei. To find out more about the Community Services Center call 2836-8134 or visit their website at: http://www.community.com.tw/
