"Little Chiu" case urges everyone to report abuse

All of Taiwan has heard about the recent case of child abuse, which led to the death of a 4-year-old girl. Everyone at the Garden of Hope has been saddened by this case, and we offer our thoughts and prayers for the small child and her family.

Unfortunately, we know that "Little Chiu" will not be the last victim of child abuse, and we urge parents, teachers, family members, neighbors, and members of the general public to make a report if they know or suspect child abuse. The government's emergency hotline is 113. For more information see a recent letter to the editor in our in the news section.

Garden of Hope talks on domestic violence at Cambodia meeting

Ms Hui-jung Chi, CEO of the Garden of Hope, represented the foundation at a recent conference in Cambodia. The conference, organized focused on human trafficking and domestic violence.

Ms. Chi welcomed the opportunity to share the GOH's experience on this matter, and invited regional NGOs to work together with the Garden of Hope to end domestic violence in the region.

Group offers help to US women overseas

The American Domestic Violence Crisis Line is a US non-profit group, which operates a toll-free crisis line for abused US women and children living overseas.

The hotline operates at nighttime in the US so that women or children can contact the group during the daytime in the time zone where they live. More information on the hotline, please see the group's website at www.866uswomen.org.
