How to Help Protect Yourself
¡@
¡@
Here are some simple
rules that can help you protect yourself. Talk about them with mom and
dad. Can you think of other ideas to help you to stay safe?
-
When you go out to play, always go with at least
one other person.
-
Always choose the road or path with more people
around.
-
Always tell your mom or dad where you are going and
make sure you know how to find mom or dad or your teacher.
-
Don¡¦t walk with people you don¡¦t know. Even if you
do know the person, don¡¦t walk with them unless your mom or dad says it¡¦s
okay.
-
Don¡¦t believe anyone who says your mom or dad asked
them to take you home. Always check with your mom or dad first to make
sure.
-
Learn your mom or
dad's phone number and make sure you know how to use a public phone.
If your parents give you "emergency money", keep it safe in case you
need it.
-
If someone follows you or tricks you to go with
them, or if you just feel scared, then run! Shout for help as loud as you can
and keep shouting! Adults won't know that you need help unless you
shout it!
-
If someone does
something that makes you feel strange or uncomfortable, you do not
have to keep it a secret. It does not matter what the person said to
you, or gave you, or even if you ¡§promised¡¨ not to tell.
¡@
Remember, if something
does happen, it is not your fault.
¡@
Find an adult you trust
and tell them. If they won't help you, tell someone else.
¡@
Keep telling people
until someone helps you! You can also call "113" for help.
